Savage Trails
Patuxent Branch Trail
The southernmost portion of the Patuxent Branch Trail enters Savage at the bottom of the hill on Vollmerhausen Road as a paved trail behind Bollman Bridge Elementary and Patuxent Middle schools. It continues south through wooded areas along the Little Patuxent River to Savage Park. At its northern end, this 4.6 mile trail connects at Lake Elkhorn to the Columbia trail system, providing access to much of south and central Howard County via foot or bike.

Savage Mill Trail
This .8 mile trail runs along the Little Patuxent River, offering beautiful views of the river and Savage Mill from various overlooks. Picnic tables and restrooms are located along this level rail trail, what remains of a 1902 continuation of the Patuxent Branch railroad spur to the Maryland Granite Company Quarry in the town of Guilford, now part of Columbia, MD. Parking can be found along Foundry Street near the Bollman Bridge.

Savage Mill Race Trail or the "Turkey Walk"
This dirt trail begins behind Bollman Bridge Elementary and Patuxent Middle schools, and is accessed off the Patuxent Branch Trail at two points. It continues south along the Little Patuxent River, ending at the overflow parking lot for Savage Park.

Wincopin Trails
Widely used by hikers and mountain bikers, the blazed trails in this 3.4 mile-long system start from the parking area off Vollmerhausen Road and meander on naturally surfaced paths through wooded parkland along the Middle and Little Patuxent rivers.
